This is paper intends to analyze the construction of the double image of the author Noam Chomsky, as linguistic and North American political activist, having as theoretical assumption the Discourse Analysis, raised by the French theoretical, Dominique Maingueneau, as the three aspects that compose the functioning of authorship (person, writer and inscriber) and the scope of management and regulation of an author's works. We aim to analyze how the organizers of Chomsky's works, in two distinct spheres of circulation of his writings, linguistics and political criticism, were responsible for bringing out mainly through the general scene of the prefaces and introductions to his books, two different images of the same author: a double and a single Chomsky. In this sense, we research about the own ethos of the respective fields of discourse that include scenes of the enunciation of the works of Noam Chomsky, here taken as documentary corpus, especially in order to understand how certain images of this author have been built and legitimized within the linguistic institution and political activism in different ways.Downloads
