Discourse, utopian body and writing of/in itself

Abstract

Focusing on the utopian bodies of women who write and expose themselves in social manifestations, in a form of political struggle, we fundamentally make use of two studies by Michel Foucault about the utopian body and the writing of the self in order to describe and analyze discourses materialized on the skin, ephemerals on the streets but perennial on social media. We read and precisely interpret the writing of two statements – “No is no” and “My body, my rules” – mobilized as strategies of political struggle to claim one’s own body, which, for a long time, remained invisible in history, attached to technologies of power that regulated it through norms and values of a moral, ethical, aesthetic and scientific nature. The utopian body of the protesters who write themselves, when disseminated, seen, liked and shared thousands of times on social networks, makes the discourses that reinvent women proliferate in the construction of their historical narrative and in their possible practices of freedom.
