Identity interweaving through the literature/psychoanalysis interrelation in Copo Vazio, by Natalia Timerman

Abstract

The present research aims to establish a relationship between literature and psychoanalysis through the analysis of the work Copo Vazio, by Natalia Timerman (2021). In the examined work, with the support of the scopes outlined by Freud (2022) and Lacan (2007), in conjunction with Foucault’s heterotopias (2013), an attempt is made to compose a contemporary psychoanalytic perspective regarding Timerman’s novel, particularly focusing on aspects related to its central character. Through this approach, the elucidation of underlying matrices of pleasure and unpleasure is elevated, spanning from the subjective realm to the collective dimension, along with their interconnections with both the external and internal worlds. This unfolds within the context of the impacts relevant to the consolidation of the protagonist’s identity image, which becomes evident throughout the reading of the aforementioned novel.
